Hi! I’m Emily. I’m a 19-year Missouri transplant, but still think of myself as a native Kentuckian.
I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication, Public Relations emphasis, and minors in Marketing and Art. I’m in my second year as a graduate student at the University of Memphis, in the Journalism program. I tell people I’m graduating in 2013, but that might just be wishful thinking. Once class at a time makes for a long degree.
I currently work as public relations coordinator at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. I love that I get to do something different nearly every day, whether it’s escorting clowns or professional basketball players as they visit patients; coordinating commercial shoots involving pink ribbons painted on real, live cows; finding medical sources to talk about the newest cancer research; or interviewing an employee who has run a marathon in all 50 states for the internal newsletter.
For fun, I love baking, decorating and eating cakes and cupcakes. I also like to pretend I’m going to make all the clever crafty things I find on Pinterest. Ever since Julie talked me into training for a 5K, you can find me at the gym most mornings gasping for air as I try to make just one more lap. I enjoy Zumba much more than running (someone needs to start a Zumba 5K trend). I also like to sing, watch TV shows on Netflix so I can skip the commercials, and dig for hidden treasures at antique stores.
