Week 5, Day 1: Feel the Burn

We had to move last Friday’s run to Saturday morning due to a schedule conflict. Even though it was actually less time between then and today’s run, it seemed like forever! I don’t know what’s happening to me … I actually CRAVE those runs. It might have more to do with the fun conversations (which are getting shorter as we have to run more than walk) but it’s a lot easier to get up at 5:30 am to run with Julie than it is to get up at my regular 6:45 am to get ready for work.

Today was a tough one. After the warm up, we went straight into a 5-minute run. Although that one wasn’t too bad, by the next — a 6-minute run — I was feeling it. My Couch to 5K app usually has us do four sets of runs with walks between. As we rounded the track for what felt like the hundredth time (our third running set), I was inwardly dreading having to do it yet AGAIN.

Then, “Cool down with a 5-minute walk.”

WHAT? We’re done?

Instantly, I felt renewed, invigorated! That? It was nothing. I could easily do five more just like it.
